Spyderco's 2025 Lineup: New Knives Announced

Spyderco new releases are always big news in the knife community. As one of the most consistently innovative American knife companies, they lead the market when it comes to new materials and designs. So, when we had a chance to meet with Spyderco show-runner Eric Glesser to take a look at some early production prototypes of the latest new Spyderco knives for 2025, we jumped at the chance. From lightweight wonders to modern takes on classic designs, Spyderco’s latest offerings have something for everyone. Are you ready to see what’s new? The Edgerati: Lightweight Strength

The Edgerati is a head-turner, inspired by the birdcage Maserati race car of the 1950s. The design incorporates cutout aluminum scales, balancing strength and weight. Let’s break down what makes this knife special:
- Distinct Design: Cutout aluminum machine scales inspired by a classic Maserati.
- Durable Build: Hard anodized finish and screw-together construction.
- Standout Feature: A visible compression lock that lets you see how it works.
The Spyderco Edgerati features an S30V blade with a full flat grind and a straight clip point blade shape. It’s quite a lightweight knife, weighing in at just over 3 ounces. Plus, it’s made in the USA with high-quality materials.
The cutout design isn’t just for looks. It provides extra traction for a secure grip and makes the knife easy to clean and dry. As a Glesser design, it shares a similar full-size profile to the popular Spyderco Shaman. While it’s launching with a satin and black finish, keep an eye out for potential future colors and blade steel options.
The Sage Series: A Nod to Lock Innovation

Spyderco’s Sage series has always been about showcasing different lock mechanisms. The newest addition is the Sage 6, which features a compression lock similar to the Sage 5 but with a Kevin Smock-inspired button release.
The Sage series is known for its comfortable ergonomic design, 3-inch blade, open construction, and deep-carry wire clip. The Sage 6 design is a winner for those who prefer a button release. An upcoming Sprint Run version will boast carbon fiber scales and S90V steel, while the standard version offers a black handle and S30V steel.
Importantly, the button that engages the Compression lock stays tucked behind your thumb, which reduces the chance of accidentally disengaging the lock. Fans of button locks will be thrilled to hear that more button lock designs will be coming from Spyderco in the future as they continue to refine the mechanism.
The PITS 2: Reinventing the Slipjoint

The PITS 2, designed by Mike Read, is a modern take on a classic slipjoint mechanism. This non-locking knife can be opened with one hand and features a pocket clip for easy carry.
One of the key design elements is the “floating pivot” mechanism. When open, the titanium piece is at rest, and as you close the knife, it flexes to create tension. This, along with a stop pin, ensures both easy opening and secure lockup.
The PITS 2 comes with an M390 blade, known for its excellent edge retention. Just remember, like any slipjoint, it’s not designed for prying. The combination of titanium and M390 steel makes for a great everyday carry option.
The Harpy: A Familiar Face with a Modern Twist

Fans of the original Spyderco Harpy rejoice! This classic design is back, but with some modern upgrades.
Spyderco typically doesn’t bring back discontinued knives in their original form. So what’s different this time? The new Harpy features screw-together construction thanks to Spyderco’s Constant Quality Improvement (CQI) process.
This updated construction replaces the old hammer-and-anvil pinned method with modern CNC machining. The Harpy is made with VG10 steel in Japan, just like the original. It also includes the signature shackle key, originally designed for cutting fishing line and ropes.
Italian Flair: Collaborations with LionSteel and FOX
Spyderco continues to partner with Italian knife makers LionSteel and FOX to bring unique designs to market:

Slym: The Slim Silhouette
The Slym is a collaboration with LionSteel. Spyderco “spyder-fies” LionSteel designs by adding the signature Spyderco hole and clip. This knife features a single-piece titanium construction, a removable flipper, a stainless steel interface, and an M390 blade. LionSteel is renowned for its quality and attention to detail, which is evident in the Slym’s flawless execution. The FatCarbon inlay and crown spine are nice touches, adding to the knife’s overall appeal.
Essenza: A Unique Shape
The Essenza is a collaboration with FOX Knives. To differentiate it from the FOX version (Chnops), Spyderco gave it a unique name. One notable feature is the aluminum handles. While Spyderco typically favors titanium and high-grade steels, the aluminum handles help keep the price point accessible. The Essenza has a Spyderco hole opener rather than a flipper, which is a great way to separate it from the original design. Plus, the aluminum handles have a contour that’s comfortable in hand.
15V Steel Sprint Runs: Performance Redefined
Spyderco is rolling out several Sprint Run models featuring 15V steel. This high-performance steel is known for its exceptional wear resistance, rivaling other top steels on the market. Spyderco works with Sean Houston (Big Brown Bear) on a specialized heat treat to optimize 15V’s performance. Glesser notes that 15V, like MagnaCut, outperforms its chemistry, delivering impressive toughness and corrosion resistance.

Military 2 (15V): The Flagship Elevated
The Spyderco Military 2 gets a boost with 15V steel. It features a four-way clip, compression lock, stone tumbled blade finish, improved ergonomics, and open-back construction for easy cleaning.
YoJumbo (15V): Tactical Powerhouse
The Spyderco YoJumbo is a tactical marvel with its extra-long Wharncliffe blade and robust Compression lock. The larger G10 handle provides a secure grip, and the 15V blade features a hollow grind. Hollow grinds are challenging to execute on high-wear-resistant steels, but Spyderco isn’t afraid to push boundaries.
MicroJimbo (15V): Compact Strength
The Spyderco MicroJimbo is a smaller, more pocket-friendly version of the original Yojimbo. It has a full flat grind instead of a hollow grind, making it a great option for utility tasks.
Native 5 (15V): Lightweight Champion
The Spyderco Native 5 combines high-grade 15V steel with a lightweight handle. The bi-directional texturing ensures a secure grip, and the classic lock back provides reliable lockup. The Native 5 in 15V is an everyday carry beast.
Manix 2 (15V): Slicing Power
The Spyderco Manix 2 features a ball-bearing lock with ceramic ball bearings for smooth operation. The bi-directional texturing provides excellent grip, and the thinner blade makes it a slicing machine.
Spyderco will also be offering the MicroJimbo and YoJumbo in pink and black with S30V steel. Remember that 5% of proceeds from pink Spyderco knives go to breast cancer research and support!
Salt Series: Conquer Corrosion

Spyderco’s Salt series is all about corrosion resistance. These knives are designed to withstand harsh environments, making them ideal for marine use and other demanding applications.
Salt knives are made in Japan (H1 steel), Taiwan, and America (MagnaCut steel). H1 steel offers the best corrosion resistance. MagnaCut offers better edge retention, but can corrode if not properly cared for. Spyderco also uses LC200N steel, another corrosion-resistant option.
All hardware on Salt knives is tested for corrosion resistance, and coatings add an extra layer of protection.
The Military 2, Manix 2, and Para 3 models will be available in MagnaCut, with both all-black and yellow-and-black G10 options.
Final Thoughts
Spyderco continues to impress with its innovative designs, high-quality materials, and commitment to performance. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a new knife enthusiast, there’s something to love in Spyderco’s 2025 lineup.
