Pros: Effectiveness, Ease of Use
Cons: Durability

It does what it says, the "Heavy Duty" stuff!

I had a Menards axe given to me and it didn't come with an edge on it and had a lot of file work needing to be done. So I researched and bought this because it says it does the heavy duty filing and it really worked. I am planning on using it for my lawn mower blades this spring as well. Keep it at the same angle and push into the blade, wearing gloves of course, and you'll have an edge in no time. I haven't broken mine but heard of others breaking when dropped so be carful... I also bought the lansky puck for the fine tuning and love it as a combo purchase! Happy sharpening!!!

Ceramic File

Used this to reprofile a couple of axes before using the Lanski Puck. It cut better than any mill bastard file I have ever owned. Just dont drop it or you wil be using it in shorter pieces. It is made out of brittle ceramics afterall.

just what I have been looking for

I have been looking for a sharpener for axes, tomahawks, and lawnmower blades. This is it! Shortly after opening the package, I accidentally dropped the tool onto a concrete floor and it broke in two. The short pieces work just fine. Leaves edge a little scratchy, but this is easy to clean up with a file, then fine sandpaper. Great tool!

For fast metal removal

I used mine to reshape a Kukri. The deep grooves in the file will quickly wear down, but plenty of material is left for further use.

Not durable, but effective

When I received the file/stone it had broken in shipping. I'm at an APO, so that wasnt suprising, and it still works. Don't expect this to keep its shape if you're doing anything more than light work on soft metal. I used it to recondition a bolo that had been abused, and when I was finished the ridges were flat. The stone is still very aggressive, so it is not unusable. I would dec omens it to a friend, but with the caveat that it will end up just being a flat file shaped stone.

Way Too Fragile

It shapes the material reasonably well, but don't use any pressure - it is very fragile! I flat-sided mine on the first use. You'll want a finer stone to "finish" your edge. If it weren't two-sided, I'd return it, honestly.
